PRECIOUS METALS IN CATALYTIC CONVERTERS
Platinum is mostly used in catalytic converters, the role of platinum is to oxidize carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons which contributes to the reduction of pollution. Platinum is particularly effective at this under oxygen-excessive conditions, where there is a balance between reductant and oxidants in the exhaust gas system, and is often the chosen metal for diesel applications and gasoline-powered vehicles.
PLATINUM
Rhodium is one of the six platinum group metals which are rare, valuable precious metals. Rhodium has a high heat resistance and high melting point.
In catalytic converters rhodium is primarily used for reducing the amount of nitrogen oxide in the exhaust system. Rhodium is primarily in gasoline-powered vehicles and helps with the reduction of harmful emissions in the atomosphere.

PALLADIUM
Palladium has a key commercial use with a critical component in catalytic converters by converting harmful emissions into less harmful substances. Palladium is primarily found in gasoline and hybrid vehicles.
Palladium converts over 80% of toxic gases such as carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide into less harmful gases such as nitrogen, carbon dioxide and water vapor in catalytic converters.
